Slot Machine Authority Imparts Words of Wisdom

3 August 2005

Allow me to introduce you to Frank Legato. He's a 49-year-old casino industry journalist who for the last two decades has specialized in conducting research on and preparing articles about slot machines for many of the nation's leading gaming publications.

The reason I'd like you to get to know him is because he knows everything there is to know about slot machines. That's why he wrote a book called How to Win Millions Playing Slot Machines! (or Lose Trying), a Scoblete Get-the-Edge guide published by Bonus Books of Chicago and Los Angeles.

The cryptic nature of the title is indicative of Legato's mission with his highly informative and immensely entertaining 168-page treatise. This isn't a gimmicky get-rich-quick scheme. If he was going to present a formula on how to win, he could have condensed it into eight words: There is no way you can beat them.

Legato knows this. There is no strategy for winning. There is no formula. It's all pure luck, period.

But there is something that everyone who plays slot machines must know in order to arm themselves against the lack of information that the manufacturers release and the marketing spin that casino operators perpetrate on the public: How do they work and what are the real odds against people who play them?

This is the heart and substance of the information contained in Legato's book. And it's the very information that you must protect yourself with so that you don't become a prisoner of the superstition and mystery that revolves around playing slots.

There's something about the author I really respect. In addition to being an authority on slot machines, he's also a player. He is able to relate to average people who attend casinos every day and bet their hard earned money on slots in quest of a jackpot.

What's more, the information contained in this recently released book is based upon the most modern slot machine technology available, information that Legato keeps up with and makes it his mission to know.

Included among the many topics he covers are:

  • Exactly how slot machines work
  • Which machines pay back the most money, and which pay most frequently
  • Which slot beliefs are merely silly myths and which are facts
  • How to recognize phony (and funny) slot systems that should be avoided
  • Frank's own strategies for increasing your winning potential
  • How to maximize your returns from slot clubs

This is not only an informative book, it's also a witty, light-hearted and very humorous approach by a man who is a gifted writer, if not a comedian. Anyone who plays slots will learn more than they ever knew about the inner workings of the machines, plus they'll be entertained.

One particularly insightful portion is Chapter 3: "Are There Gnomes Inside? What a modern slot machine is, what a modern slot machine is not, and why you cannot control whether you win or lose".

A good portion of the book is devoted to "an exciting slot-themed road trip across the United States", including the Midwest. He gets into the character and history of the different gaming jurisdictions and his favorite places to play.

Legato knows that if we can't beat them but millions of people every year still play them, we may as well be as informed as we can possibly be. He doesn't treat the subject of slots seriously, or burden his readers with unnecessary facts and statistics. He lays it out plain and simple.

The author himself doesn't guarantee you'll win, nor does he even remotely give that impression. I guarantee, however, that after reading Legato's book you'll approach slot machine play with a much different mind set. And that's a good thing.
